Wiring Adapter to Install Tekonsha Prodigy P3 in 2017 Ram 5500 with Factory Controller

Question:

I have a 2017 ram 5500 chassis cab 6.7 Cummins with Aisin transmission and factory controller. I want to install your P3 controller 90195 with part 3021-P. Your website says not confirmed for 2016 or 2017 model. Can you let me know it this harness will work for me? Thank you.

You can install the Prodigy P3 trailer brake controller # 90195 in your 2017 Ram 5500 that has a factory controller but you will use wiring adapter # 3024-P, not part # 3021-P. I confirmed this harness fit with Tekonsha.

Once you disconnect the factory unit a code will appear on your dash. This error code does not affect operation of the Prodigy but if you want to clear it you will need to visit a dealership to have them electronically disengage the factory controller connection. This will clear the code and your P3 will work fine, giving you superior proportional trailer braking power.
