Wiring Harnesses Needed To Flat-Tow a 2000 Jeep Cherokee

Question:

I have a 2000 Jeep Cherokee that I will be flat towing. I have base plates and a tow bar. I still need a breaking system which I think will be the invisi break 8700 roadmaster. What wiring to I need. I also want to trickle charge the battery of the Jeep. My rv has a tow hitch but no wiring set up yet for towing. What suggestions do you have?

The Roadmaster InvisiBrake Supplemental Braking System part # RM-8700 is indeed an excellent choice for your 2000 Jeep Cherokee. It comes with everything that you need for installation and it even has a monitor light for the motor home to let you know when the brakes are being applied. If the brakes in the toad are applied for too long then an audible alert will sounds to let you know of a potential issue. The unit is also made in the USA.

In order to make sure this unit does not drain the battery while in use then it would be a great idea to install a charge line, the Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit for Towed Vehicles part # RM-156-25. If you don't already have a flat-tow wiring harness then I recommend the Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit part # RM-15267 because this will allow you to run the charge line though the umbilical cord.

In order to set your motor home up to work with the above you will need the 7-Pole and 4-Pole Trailer Connector Sockets part # HM40975-11998 and the Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit for Motorhomes part # RM-156-75. Also, if your motor home has separate brake and turn signal bulbs then you will also need the Roadmaster Brite-Lite Wiring Converter part # RM-732.
