How to Determine Proper D-Ring Spacing In an Enclosed Car Hauler Trailer

Question:

Where in my enclosed trailer, plywood floor, do I install four D-Ring tie downs. What are the spacing dimensions for car hauling. How far do I space them from the walls of the trailer and back of the trailer to front of the trailer?

Since you are planning on installing these Trailer D-Rings # RR06 in a plywood floor I would recommend you also get the Backing Plate # BP06 to offer better support than just the wood of your trailer floor.

As far as the placement of them in your trailer, you will need to consider what vehicles you will be transporting. If it will be only one vehicle I would recommend loading that car in the trailer and then strategically place the D-rings to give you the best possible mounting points for that specific vehicle.

If you plan on transporting various cars of shapes and sizes I would recommend you install as many of these as you can (within reason) to give your self the most options possible for securing different vehicles. You will want to have them installed around the outside perimeter of the trailer most likely, but it really is up to you how you want to do it.

You may want to consult your local laws and regulations on transporting vehicles to determine if there are any regulations on securing a vehicle in a covered trailer.
