Hardwire Installation of Trailer Brake Controller in 2008 Silverado
Question:
I found the bundle of wires with the white tag on them. They are secured pretty tightly. which end would have the blunt cuts? Up toward the dash? or down toward the door or emergency brake. i dont want to just pull them

The tow package wire bundle under the dash of your 2008 Silverado will have the blunt cut ends up at the dash end where they will be more convenient for hard wiring a brake controller like the Hopkins Agility # HM47294. It may be easier to get to them if you remove the tape to loosen things up. Wiring is often taped or zip tied together for stability and this can make it hard to see what goes where.
The wire connections you'll make are as follows:
Tow Package RED connects to brake controller BLACK (12V power)
Tow Package DARK BLUE connects to brake controller BLUE (output to brakes)
Tow Package LIGHT BLUE or ORANGE connects to controller RED (brake light signal)
Tow Package WHITE connects to brake controller WHITE (ground)
You will also need 7-way connector/harness # PK11898 if there is a bundle of blunt wires above the spare; or if there is instead a round plug with a cap above the spare you will use part # 30955.
The linked article walks you through the remainder of the installation process.
