Installing a Brake Controller on a 2017 Ford F-150 with Factory 4-Way Connector
Question:
Hello I have a 2017 F-150 with 4 pins and would like to upgrade to 7 pins. I read the answer already, but still dont know exactly where the black the blue wire need to be wire at the other engine ends. Lets say I will install the controller just like shown in this video for the Tekonsha Primus IQ do I need to follow the directions on the ETBC7 page? It looks like if my truck is equipped with the wires as shown in the video, there is no point of bringing the blue wire into the truck compartment. Can you please give me more details before I buy these items? Thank you!

To upgrade the 4-Way on your 2017 Ford F-150 to a 4-Way/7-Way connector so you can use a brake controller you need the Universal Wiring Kit # ETBC7 that was referenced. You should be able to find the 12V and brake controller wiring under your F-150 on the driver's side just in front of the trailer hitch on an OEM connector. I have attached a video of our team installing the ETBC7 kit on a 2017 F-150 that you can follow for your application as well.
The brake controller in the video is the Prodigy P2 # 90885 which connects to your F-150 using the adapter # 22292. If you don't already have a brake controller then I highly recommend going with this one because it is very reliable, easy to use, and features both an auto-dimming LED display and the ability to position the controller at any angle in a vertical plane which really gives you more options for the installation. By using this combination you can simply follow along with the attached video for the entire installation. The Primus IQ # TK90160 is the predecessor to the Prodigy P2 and will install the same way.
