Recommended Trunk-Mounted Bike Rack for 2010 Lexus HS250 Hybrid

Question:

Is it true that in order to use the anti-sway cages, bikes have to be mounted in the same direction? Most of the time I will be carrying one bike but in the event I want to carry two, is the 2-bike rack really going to keep the bikes from interfering with each other, especially if they have to face the same way? What's the weight of the 2-bike rack? 3-bike rack? Does the Gateway clear a spoiler? I have a Lexus HS 250 hybrid 2010. Warranty?

When multiple bikes are placed on the OutWay 2 or 3 bike rack, the bikes would face in alternate directions. The bike closest to the vehicle would have the front of the bike facing to the right, the second bike would have the front facing to the left, and so on. Because the bikes are facing in alternating directions, everything should fit nicely. These carriers come with a bar that goes between the bikes to physically hold them apart.

The 2-bike OutWay model, part # TH45JV weighs about 13 lbs, with the 3-bike model, part # TH56BV weighing approximately 18.2 lbs.

Thule does confirm the fit of the OutWay on your vehicle. The significant advantage of the OutWay is the ratcheting cable system that uses 2 hooks and two straps to attach the rack to the vehicle. This system allows the rack to be installed or removed in seconds, versus the 6 straps and buckles used by other racks.

For women's bikes or bikes with sharply angled top tubes or step-through frames, using a frame adapter like part # TH982XT is recommended. The adapter spans the distance between the seat post and the handle bar gooseneck, and provides a level attachment point to the bike rack so the bike is not carried at an angle.

All Thule bike racks offer a limited lifetime warranty.
