Question:

I am looking for recommendations on a weight distribution system for my equipment trailer. It is a 14000# GVWR trailer.

Weight distribution hitches are best selected based on the tongue weight (TW) of the trailer when it is loaded with a typical amount of weight. Unless you routinely operate your 14K GVWR trailer at full capacity you may not need a system rated for that much weight. The easiest way to measure loaded TW is with scale # e99044. The scale will let you easily confirm your actual loaded TW.

You want to choose a system so that your measured TW falls near the middle of its operating range. The excellent Reese Strait-Line system # RP66084 that you referenced works effectively over a TW range from 600 lbs to 1,200 lbs so this would be an ideal choice for a trailer with TW from 800 to 1000-lbs. It can be used with trailers that weigh up to 12,000-lbs. The Strait-Line actually helps prevent trailer sway instead of just reacting to it after it starts. It comes complete except for the hitch ball; use either 2-inch # A-90 or 2-5/16-inch # 19286.

If you do need a higher-rated Strait-Line system then part # RP66075 will give you a TW range of 1000-lbs to 1700-lbs. This also requires you to add a hitch ball and a shank like # RP54977. Please feel free to let me know your trailer's measured TW and I will be glad to make a recommendation.
