Recommended 3-Bike Trunk Mount Bike Rack for 2010 Mazda CX-9

Question:

Greetings Would like to get a trunk mount for the wifes 2010 Mazda CX-9 which would ideally enable her to carry 1 adult bike and 2 kids bikes or 2 adult bikes and one kids bike.... so a three bike capacity. Mazda werent much help wanted to fit a trailer hitch for $1000 so I wondered if you have a model that would safely and securely enable us to attach to this model and safely transport? Kind regards

The Thule OutWay 3 Bike Trunk-Mounted Rack, part # TH56BV would be my recommendation for your 2010 Mazda CX-9.

The OutWay uses a mounting system that uses only 2 cables rather than the 4-6 straps used by most other trunk-mounted racks. This leads to simple and quick install and removal. The cables quickly and easily adjust with the turn of a knob for the perfect amount of tension to securely hold the rack in place, instead of the numerous straps and buckles that most other racks use.

Keep in mind that the rear windshield wiper CANNOT be used while a rack is in place.

For women's bikes or bikes with sharply angled top tubes or step-through frames, using a frame adapter like part # 64005 is recommended. The adapter spans the distance between the seat post and the handle bar gooseneck, and provides a level attachment point to the bike rack so the bike is not carried at an angle.
