Troubleshooting Coach Step Not Retracting on 2005 American Eagle

Question:

I have an American Eagle 2005 with a Kwikee steps No:903206001 with a control module 909506000 . I send the Motorhome at a pain shop for some cosmetic repair. They replaced the steps by a used LCI 128980 with a control module 164889. Since then the light outside and inside the motorhome do not open when i open the door and they stay open when i close the door. I suspect a defective control module since there is no current on the purple wire . Also is the LCI 128980 a correct replacement for my Kwikee 903206001 ? Thank you

They replaced your Kwikee step with a coach step. It really isn't an issue to do so just the assembly is different for the gear and motor than your previous step. The coach steps often have a separate switch inside the motorhome to turn off the power to your steps so they don't retract and extend when you are camping each time you use the door. If that is the case, you can flip the switch and the light and door switch should work properly. If they do not, then there may be an issue with that switch or the door magnetic switch. The Replacement Control Module for Lippert Electric Coach Step # LC301702 is the control module 164889 that is the correct fit for that step but I recommend checking switch # LC379390 out first if present.

If it isn't a power switch issue, then I recommend replacing the door switch with # LC301694 first and if that doesn't solve your issue then moving to the controller replacement # LC301702 mentioned above.
