Troubleshooting 2015 Dodge Ram 1500 that Says Trailer Connected All the Time

Question:

Hello there I am having a head scratching moment as I cannot figure this issue I am having with my truck wiring for my factory integrated brake controller. I have a 2015 Dodge ram 1500 big horn and I keep getting the message to check trailer brake wiring, please note that I do NOT have a trailer connected but the message appears whenever I press the brake. I used my circuit tester and found that i have power to all except for the brakes, I then went ahead to check the fuse for my brake controller and noticed it was still good. I then wanted to check the fuse box itself and turns out I have power to only one side of the fuse and the other side does not. If there is any information that can be provided I would greatly appreciate it as I am unsure if this is a ground issue or if there is something else that I should be looking at.

The issue you are more than likely having is that you have some corrosion on the pins of your trailer wiring connector which is tricking the computer of your truck into thinking you have a trailer connected as it's sensing a slightly draw similar to brake magnets or trailer lights. The really easy fix is to take some sandpaper to the pins of the 7-way to clean them all off and the issue will go away.
