Installing Brake Controller on 2008 Dodge Ram with Factory 4-Way Trailer Connector
Question:
I am trying to install the brakeman iv with tekonsha 3020-p on an 2008 ram 1500 single cab 2 wheel drive slt and can not locate the plug the connector. I have watched every video I could find but still can not locate it. If my truck does not have a connector how do I hook it up. The truck came with a 4 pin on rear but am changing to a 7 pin

On your 2008 Ram 1500, you will use the Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter for Electric Brake Controllers - Dodge # 3020-P which will connect to the blue harness found deep in the dash on the driver's side. I've attached a video to assist which shows how difficult that harness can be to find but also how to locate it.
Because you have the factory 4-way, you will also use the kit # ETBC7. This will help you run the correct wires and give you the 7-way adapter. The brake controller output (blue) wire does not run all the way back to the 4-pole at the rear; it stops at the connector that is located under the driver's side wheel well. In order to finalize the installation you must splice into this wire and continue it back to the plug. If you can't find the factory wiring harness, this kit will help you to completely hardwire your controller to give you the fully functional 7-way.
