The taillight circuit of your vehicle trailer wiring would not have enough amperage available to charge a battery with the Tekonsha Two Stage 12 V DC Battery Charger # 2024-07. It needs to be run to the 12 volt accessory circuit of your trailer wiring. If you only had a 4-way installed on your vehicle you'd need to convert it to a 7-way with the # ETBC7L to accomplish. This comes with an easy to install 7-way adapter and all of the wiring needed to activate the 12 volt accessory circuit.
