Bike Rack for 2011 Nissan Rogue that Fits Both 2 inch and 1-1/4 inch Trailer Hitch Sizes
Question:
I am looking to get a bike which means a bike rack. Because I have a 2011 Nissan Rouge I will need to get a Trailer mounted rack. I was looking at getting a trailer hitch to put on my Rouge. I am working off the worst case possibilitie that I get a bike rack that is a different size than my receiver. Using that assumption that would mean I would have a bike rack with 1-1/4 fitting and a 2 inch receiver or vices versa. My questions is if I had to buy an adapter would it better to go from a 2 inch down to a 1/14inch or vice versa? I think it would be better to go from a 2 to a 1-1/4 receiver but not sure what other factors may apply. Appreciate your help. I will try to hopefully buy both with the same receiver size.

It will always be better to go from a 2 inch hitch down to a 1-1/4 inch hitch with an adapter as the opposite direction cuts the capacity of the hitch by 50 percent. For that we have the adapter part # HT02 which is a sleeve style adapter that makes the needed conversion. Ideally though you install a 2 inch hitch on 2011 Nissan Rogue like part # e98846 and then go with a bike rack that is designed to fit both sizes with an included adapter like the Thule Doubletrack part # TH92BJ which would work really well.
