Troubleshooting Bleeding Kodiak Disc Brake Assemblies
Question:
Ive got a 16,000 lb rated tri axle boat trailer with surge brakes. I up graded to electric over hydraulic , a Hydrastar 1600 PSI conversion system. The system works great pumping fluid through the lines pasted all tees and to each of the 6 calipers. The problem: When attempting to bleed the Kodiaks Im not able to get any fluid to pump / drain out of any of the zerks. I was told to use the top zerks only but Ive tried them all, top and bottom on each caliper, but no fluid. Ive attempted to start the bleeding from the furthest away and move closer and Ive tried the closest out to the furthest. If it were were one caliper I might think maybe a caliper issue but not all 6, and here is the kicker the trailer is only 3 years old and has less then 600 miles on it. 4 salt water immersions, thoroughly flushed after each and 6 freshwater. The trailer has always been stored indoors in central Florida. Why am I not able to extract fluid from the zerks to bleed them ? Any assistance you can offer would be greatly appreciated. Sincerely

I'm glad to hear you have tested the HydraStar Marine Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator w/ Breakaway and 7-Way RV Harness - 1,600 psi # HS381-9067 and found it to be working properly. The Kodiak disc brake calipers like kit # K2R526D have a two piece bleeder valve so if you only adjust the bottom section to attempt bleeding, that is the cause of your frustration.
I've attached a couple photos to assist.
