Parts to Help 1994 Chevy C/K Series Truck More Easily Pull 6,000 lb Trailer
Question:
Hi, 94 silverado 1500 extended cab 5.7 liter 3.42 gear ratio. I purchased a 2010 keystone passport ultra lite bh300, dry weight 5493. My truck weighed at scale 5180, me 217, dog 60#. I felt the trailer was heavy pulling it but 50 miles and rainy. What is the correct combined weight and is this too heavy? Sticker saids Gvwr 6200 Gawr front 3600/3886 rear. Thanks

You gave a lot of great information but we have to rely on the owner's manuals to confirm any type of capacity specs and when I looked up the owner's manual of your 1994 Chevy Silverado 1500 it had no specifics on either towing capacity or load capacity, apart from not exceeding your GAWR, which is found on your door jamb. What I can tell you is that the owner's manual said to always use sway control if your trailer weighs more than 4,000 lbs.
Since yours is it is a very good idea to use a weight distribution system with sway control, and if your trailer is not level, and your Silverado's rear end is sagging when you tow, that may be one of the causes for pulling "heavy" as you succinctly described it.
For this I recommend the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution # FA94-00-1061 because it uses clamp-on brackets so you do not have to drill into your trailer's frame like with some systems, includes all needed hardware for installation and uses friction within its sway bars to help keep your trailer in line. This system comes with a 2-5/16" hitch ball but you can use the 2" Hitch Ball # EQ91-00-6080 if you need that size hitch ball.
I have added links to a video review for you to check out as well.
