How Thick is the Steel On Curt Hitch For Nissan Titan XD

Hi I recently purchased a 2016 Titan XD and it comes with the factory receiver the problem the hitch pin was ovaled out and I tow just about everyday one trailer about 3000 the other 5000 mostly around town and now its wallered out and crowned around the edges I am a welder and fabricator hobbiest and know steel pretty well and it seems Nissan really used low quality malleable steel in this one , I peened the crown to flat and fabbed up two 1/8 th in thick washers 5061 high grade steel and welded one on each side it seemed to work but figure it wont be a permanent fix my question is about the grade of steel in your hitch you offer and if it would hold up to daily towing The one on my Expediton el never disfigured in 200,000 miles I use a solid tongue pentle with a convert a ball 2 inch and 2 /16 ths hitch and a BandW 3 inch depending on trailer

Yes the Curt hitch holds up to daily towing, I went to the warehouse with a digital caliper and measured the thickness of the Steel Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C15306 because Curt was not able to tell me the grade of steel the hitch is made from. The brackets on the hitch measure 0.3225" thick. The hitch receiver portion of the hitch measures 0.51" thick and the actual cross tube itself measures 3.7" wide. I was not able to measure the thickness of the steel that makes up the cross member because it is enclosed. The hardware that comes with the hitch is grade 8 hardware. I confirmed with Curt that this hitch is a fit for the 2016 Nissan Titan XD. According to Curt their hitches are tested for safety standards with the Society of Automotive Engineers.

The Curt hitch is rated for up to 16,000 Lbs gross trailer weight and 2,400 lbs tongue weight. It is a good idea to check the weight capacity ratings for your Titan XD in the owner's manual.
