Recommended Replacement Tires for Lowered Trailer Currently Using LT235/75R15 Off-Road Tires

Question:

I currently have a single axel travel trailer with an off-road package. The current tire size is LT235/75R15, but I am looking to flip the axel and lower the trailer. What size tire could I use as a replacement non-off-road?

If your springs are already on top of your axles as it sounds, then you will lose the diameter or your axle plus the spring stack height when you flip the springs to the traditional location under the axle. This will most likely lower your trailer by a little over 3 inches. You need a new u-bolt kit for your axle, so I recommend the CE Smith U-Bolt Kit for Mounting 3,500-lb, Round Trailer Axles - 5-1/2" Long U-Bolts - Zinc # CE23002 if your axle is 2-3/8 inch diameter or # CE23003 if it is 3 inches diameter.

Your current tires have a 28.9 inch diameter with a 9.3 inch width. You will want smaller tires on the same 15 inch wheel, so I recommend the Taskmaster Provider ST205/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire - Load Range D # TR20515D. These tires are 27.17 inches diameter and 7.99 inches wide. They are radial tires for better highway traction and travel. They are rated for speeds up to 81 mph and have a load rating of 2,150 lbs at 65 psi. These tires are made with automotive grade tread and come with a 2 year warranty.
