I have a few different options for you depending on the route you would like to take. However, regardless of which route you pursue you will need to take some measurements of your outer jack tube length and weld stop spacing. If you are handy and the bevel gear inside your jack leg is the only one that is damaged then you can just obtain the Follow Jack Repair Kit for Stromberg Carlson Landing Gear part # LG-146060. However, if you don't want to mess with repairing your old jack leg or there is more internal damage than just the bevel gear then you will need to either replace the leg or the entire system.

The most likely replacement for just the leg is the Replacement Follow Jack w/ Drop Leg part # LG-179014 which has a 29-1/2" long outer tube and 15-1/2" weld stop spacing inside to inside or 17-1/2" weld stop spacing outside to outside. For a new system with the same outer tube length and weld stop spacing as the above we have the Stromberg Carlson Manual Landing Gear Set part # LG-183708.

I have attached a photo for you that shows how to measure the outer tube and weld stop spacing.

I have a 37 ton log splitter with a jack that lifts as you lift the trailer itself by the handle. It's heavy. I want to replace the jack with one that allows a hand crank and wheel for moving it around. Does the weld on jack simply slip into place to replace this jack?

To be certain I would need to know what model jack your log splitter currently has installed. Is there a brand or model number printed anywhere on the existing jack?

The best option we have for you is going to be with the Stromberg Carlson Electric Landing Gear Set part # LG-2. The measurements that you provided are not standard so you will need to have new tabs which are included with the kit welded to your trailer's frame. Unfortunately, I am not aware of any landing gear sets/legs that use this spacing so this will be your only option from us. On the plus side of things though, this does give you a chance to upgrade to an electric setup.
