Connecting a Ball Mount and Brake Controller to a 2016 Chevy Traverse
Question:
First-when I took off the face plastic and tried to put in my trailer ball and receiver it hits the plastic piece at the top. I sure dont want to cut out a chunk because it would ruin the look if I take off the ball and want to cover it up. Second I have the V92 package and it says the blunt wires for the brake controller are under the emer brake , I cant see it but I found a service bulletin for the 2018, but that looks different, any guess as to where it is, If I find it how to Install a controller?? Thanks,

If your ball mount is touching the rear fascia on your 2016 Chevy Traverse due to the hidden look of the receiver, like you get with the etrailer.com Trailer Hitch Receiver # E98863, then you should be able to use a ball mount with a longer shank to get the proper clearance. I have attached a link to our selection of ball mounts that you can filter through but if you can let me know what hitch you have installed, the rear clearance needed, and what rise/drop you need (see attached article) then I can make a recommendation for you.
According to the installation instructions for the Tekonsha Adapter # 3026-P the plug for the brake controller will be behind the emergency brake pedal and under the dash (see attached photo). If you can't find the connector then there should be 5 blunt cut wires with the following colors: black, dark blue, white, red/black, and gray. You will want to connect these wires to the following wires on your brake controller:
Blue - Dark Blue (Traverse)
Black - Red/Black (Traverse)
White - Black (Traverse)
Red - White(Traverse)
You won't be using the Gray wire from the Traverse harness.
If you still can't find anything let me know and I can help you troubleshoot further.
