Is a Slider 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Needed for a 2007 Chevy Silverado with 6-1/2 Foot Bed

Question:

We have a 2007 Chevy Duramax 2500HD crew cab with 6foot bed. The king pin on our RV extends to the front of RV. Do we need a hitch with slider? We like the #16516 model. Can we use it without a slider? What do you recommend? Is the Model 16516 a good choice?

On a truck with a short bed, even with an extended pin box you will most likely need a slider hitch to make tight turns without the trailer running into the truck cab. The Curt slider is going to give you 12 inches of travel for greater clearance when making tight turns.

The Curt slider, # 16516, is a good hitch with a 4-Way pivoting head and round tube slider. Make sure that the 16,000 pound gross trailer weight capacity and 4,000 pound pin weight capacity is enough for your trailer.

For an installation kit, use # C16418-104. I have included links to the installation details for the hitch and installation kit for you.
