Trouble with LED Trailer Lights While Connected to 2009 Nissan Rogue

Question:

I have a 2009 Nissan Rouge SL that is completely stock. I converted my trailer over to Optronics LED Tail Lights and an LED ID Light Bar. I also had to replace my U-Haul Trailer Wiring Harness to a 14486. Since converting to LED lights these are the symptoms I experience: with no running or night lights turned on the stop light work properly, the turn signals are very intermittent and the flasher does not work for either the car or the trailer. When turning on the running or night lights I have the following symptoms: running lights work properly to include the light bar, stop lights function properly, you have to initiate the turn signal at least 2X for the turn signals to operate and when initiating the flashers neither the car nor the trailer lights work. My ground is good between the car and the trailer, having checked it w/ a Fluke Meter between the white grounding wire in the car to multiple locations on the trailer.

For starters, we need to find out which side the issue you are having is occurring on, the vehicle or the trailer. In order to do this you can either A) find a different trailer/tow vehicle or B) test the pins inside the trailer connector. For example, if you test the turn signal pin with an incandescent tester and it only activates after the turn signal has been applied multiple times then this would point to the trailer wiring harness being bad or incompatible. I am not familiar with the trailer wiring harness you are using but I can confirm the the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector part # 118480 is a fit for your 2009 Nissan Rogue (Excluding Krom) and works with LED lights.

If the vehicle side checks out then I know you said you tested your grounds but try running a jumper wire from the main ground to each of your lights to see if that fixes your issue. Also, try maybe disconnecting a few of the running lights in case you are by chance overloading the circuit. If all else fails I recommend you take the vehicle and trailer into a local repair shop.
