Economically Priced Fifth Wheel Hitch Recommendation for 2018 Ram 2500 Short Bed with OEM Rail Kit

It appears there arent many options for the RAM puck system on the market and the ones that are available are expensive. Do you have to use a puck system fifth wheel hitch on the RAM trucks or can you still install a rail system unit?

Since you have a short bed 2018 Ram 2500 you will need a slider fifth wheel hitch to give you the needed clearance to make tight turns like the B and W Companion Slider part # BWRVK3670 that you referenced. Slider hitches are more expensive typically as there's more going on with them. The most cost effective solution is going to be with a Ram rail kit adapter part # RP30154 which fits the pucks and gives you rails that the less expensive style hitches fit.

Then you can use a hitch like the Reese 16k hitch part # RP30075 which is still a great hitch. It has a round tube slider which means it will operate smoother than a square tube and it's jaw design provides 360 degree contact to the king pin which gives you a smoother and quieter ride.
