Troubleshooting Low Voltage to Trailer Brakes When Wiring is New
Question:
Utility trailer voltage from 12v+ to 2.5v Tried two vehicles same results. New wiring and tinned connections. Double checked grounds. The trailer itself seems to be a dead short. Perplexed?

It's possible you have bad brake magnets which is causing the voltage issues you are describing. I attached a link to this page that has a guide for troubleshooting magnets.
