Towing Capacity and Recommended 5th Wheel Hitch for 2015 Chevy Silverado 1500 4x4
Question:
I have a 2015 Chevy truck 4x4 double cab with 5.3 engine automatic transmission and 3.42 gears. I’m looking at buying a 5th wheel camper with a dry weight of 6975 lbs. would my truck be able to pull it. Thanks

Based on my research your 2015 Chevy Silverado 1500 4x4 with the 5.3L engine and 3.42 axle ratio has a towing capacity of 9,500 pounds. As long as the 5th wheel trailer you're considering remains under this weight once it's fully loaded it looks like you will be good to go.
I do still recommend verifying this capacity by taking a look at your owner's manual or even visiting/calling a local Chevy dealer with your VIN.
To pull a 5th wheel trailer you will need to install a set of base rails and the hitch itself. For this I highly recommend the Curt A16 5th Wheel Hitch # C16521 along with the Custom Installation Kit # C16400-204. This is an excellent sliding hitch that features an interlocking 2-jaw system for a superior connection with the trailer and a smooth, quiet ride. Its fully articulating head allows for much easier hookup and the 12 inches of travel that the slider provides will let you make sharper turns without any cab interference.
I have attached a short video review that you can check out as well.
