Yes, you can flat tow your 2016 Lincoln MKZ with the V6 3.7L engine. The car can be put into Neutral Tow mode for flat towing by following the preparation steps outlined on page 247 of the online owner's manual.
You'll need base plates, tow bar, safety cables, a wiring/lighting kit, a supplemental braking system and a high-low hitch adapter.
For base plates I recommend Roadmaster Direct-Connect base plate # RM-524436-5.
For a matching tow bar use Falcon All Terrain tow bar # RM-522.
For safety cables use # RM-643.
For a braking system I like the Blue Ox Patriot # BLU37TR which is portable and easily transferred to your next towed car.
I also recommend simple low-cost magnetic lights, part # C6304 or # TL21RK, which do not require lots of splicing into the MKZ's wiring and that are easy to replace if they ever fail. These lights also save you having to install a brake light relay.
Last you'll need a high-low hitch adapter to keep the connected toe bar level which is important for best performance. You can refer to the linked article for help making your selection.
