I was looking at some pictures of the interior of a 2010 Nissan Frontier and I think I have located a couple of places you may be able to install the controller and still be within the mounting range as specified in the instructions (linked for reference).
First, you will want the controller within easy reach of the driver so usually the right side of the steering column somewhere is best. There may be enough space on the center console below the lowest knob cluster directly in front of the gear shifter.
If you cannot get it mounted there then another common place would be on the lower part of the dash, below and to the left of the hazard light button. You should be able to angle the bracket on the controller in order to mount the bracket flush to the angled dash but still keep the controller within the correct mounting range.
