Trailer Wiring Harness for a 2019 GMC Acadia Without the Factory Tow Package

Question:

Is there a wiring harness for a 2019 GMC Acadia that does not have the factory tow package? Is there a difference in what would be required? I’m towing a small pop up camper and I just installed a class III hitch but I’m not having much luck finding a harness for it locally at the autoparts stores. Thanks

From the information I can find I believe your 2019 GMC Acadia will have the wiring routed back towards the rear of your vehicle whether you have the factory tow package or not (see attached photo). If you check up under the rear bumper of your Acadia you should find the wiring harness that you would plug the T-One # 118720 (for a 4-Way) or # 118276 (for a 7-Way) into. I have attached some installation videos on a 2017 Acadia as well as the written instructions for you to reference. I like the Tekonsha wiring over the other options because we have found it to be the most reliable.

If you can't find it please let me know and I can help you figure out where to go from there.

But if you dont have a tow/haul mode package? I ask because I heard that the Heavy Duty Cooling System is stock on the SLT-1 AWD V6. I cannot find it anywhere which comes stock on my vehicle.

The owners manual will tell you whether or not your vehicle is equipped with the tow package. Another way to check on a 2019 GMC Acadia is to check if you have the wiring back by the rear bumper. It will be between the muffler and the rear fascia.

Yes, I agree. I also have the same vehicle. Mine is the SLT-1 V6 AWD. My question goes a little deeper. Do I need the V92 heavy duty cooling system to tow up to 4,000 lbs? Or just the hitch and wiring?

For your 2019 GMC Acadia SLT-1 your owners manual doesn't state anything about requiring the heavy duty cooling system. It simply requires the hitch and wiring, but you will want to enter into tow/haul mode so you don't damage your transmission. The 3.6L V6 you state having is rated for towing 4,000 lbs max.
