Will Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch 75096 Fit a 1998 Ford Explorer with Full Size Spare Tire
Question:
Will this unit fit with a full size spare? What hitch do you recommend with no drilling for this application? I need to be in the 5K range on capacity. Thanks

The Draw-Tite hitch # 75096 will fit with the full size, 16 inch spare tire on a 1998 Ford Explorer. I have included a link to the installation details for you. On 1995 and newer models, you should not have to do any drilling to install the hitch as indicated in the instructions.
This hitch has a gross trailer weight capacity of 5,000 pounds and can go as high as 7,500 pounds when used with a weight distribution system. Be sure to consult the vehicle owners manual to determine the towing capacity of the vehicle.
I also recommend the etrailer Ball Mount Kit, # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts, 2 balls, a hitch pin with clip, and a carrying bag. If the Explorer does not have a towing package and you need to add trailer wiring, use # 118345. If it does have the factory tow package and you need to add a 4-way or you need a replacement 4-way, use # 118241. I have linked instructions for the wiring as well.
