Can the Reese Goose Box be Used on a 2018 Ford F-350 Short Bed
Question:
How far from the cab does the gooseball need to be in order to safely use and turn with the Reese Goosebox on a Grand Design fifth wheel replacing the 1621 Lippert pin box? Also like the first gentleman asked, what can I expect regarding bed sidewall clearance for an ‘18 F350?

I do have a formula that you can use to determine your 5th wheel turning clearance (see below) but I don't have any exact figures for you. However, I can tell you now that if you have a 6-1/2' bed on your 2018 Ford F-350 then the Reese Goose Box 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Air Ride Coupler Adapter part # RP85FR most likely will not work. The Reese Goose Box would be pretty much the same as using a fixed 5th wheel hitch on a short bed truck. In regards to bedside clearance, I have attached a photo with the dimensions of the Reese Goose Box that you can use to determine this but again I don't have exact figures for you.
The best option I can offer you in regards to convenience is a rotating pin box like the Sidewinder 5th Wheel King Pin with Rotating Turret part # RP34FR with a fixed 5th wheel hitch like the Reese M5 # RP30921 if you have the prep package, or # RP30928 with # RP50074-58 if you don't have the prep package. This option will not allow as much freedom when coupling/uncoupling the trailer but you will not have to worry about turning clearance. The Sidewinder Wedge for Reese M series is # RP44FR.
(A + B) - C = Clearance
A = Distance from center of gooseneck hitch ball opening to truck cab
B = Distance from center of coupler to loft on trailer (see photo)
C = Width of trailer divided by 2 (to get half)
