Suspension Enhancement to Reduce Squat Experienced When Trailer is Hitched to 2006 F350 Dually

Question:

I have a 2006 F-350 Crew Cab Duelly which I use to tow a 4 car trailer for work. When I load my trailer, the rear of my truck sags approx. 6inch which I know is no good for my truck. I have been told that I should add a extra leaf spring which will raise the rear of the truck approx. 2inch and solve my problem. If I install this product will it solve my problem? Will the rear of the truck sage? I am trying to find a product that will absorb the weight when Im towing approx. 10 hours per day and maintain the truck level while towing. If I add the extra spring it will raise the truck which I do not want,Thank You.

Adding an additional leaf spring would somewhat increase the height of the rear of your truck, as you suspected.

A suspension enhancement product like the Timbren part # TFR350SDF you mentioned is primarily designed for loads placed in the truck bed. In most cases, using this product will somewhat decrease the squat you are experiencing, but the weight being applied to the rear of the vehicle will lighten the front end, resulting is decreased front braking performance and steering response.

A better option for your needs would be a weight distribution system. A weight distribution system uses spring bars under tension to provide leverage that distributes a portion of the trailer tongue weight to the front axle of the tow vehicle, thus balancing the suspension height between the front and rear axles.

I will link you to our FAQ article about weight distribution which will explain the concept further.

Weight distribution systems are classified by the loaded and ready-to-tow tongue weight of the trailer. If you could provide the as-loaded tongue weight of your trailer, I would be happy to suggest a system that would work for you.
