5-Way Trailer Wiring and Hitch Recommendation for a 2012 Ford Explorer
Question:
Looking for a wiring kit with a four and five prong, I saw a four prong on your site but not a five. What about the kit with the round seven plug that I can put I adapter in that will allow to use either 4 or 5 plug? Also can you give me the difference is the hidden hitch brand and the draw tite, I am a little concerned about the price difference of what I saw on line. Thanks

If you do not have a 4-way present at the rear of your 2012 Ford Explorer I would recommend you get a Tow Ready Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118540. This is a very simple install, I attached installation instructions and a installation video for you to check out as well.
Once you have a 4-way you will be able to install a Adapter 4 Pole to 5 Pole Wiring Adapter # 47515. This will basically just plug right in to your 4-way and then will give you the fifth circuit that you could run to your reverse lights to activate a reverse lockout solenoid. I attached an installation video for this product for you to check out also.
If you already have a 7-way on your 2012 Ford Explorer then you could use a 7-way to 5 or 4-way adapter like our part # HM47075 to convert to either of those connector styles.
Hidden Hitch and Draw-Tite are owned by the same parent company and the Hidden Hitch name is being phased out. So a lot of times you see hitches under both names that are identical. Either one would work very well for your vehicle.
