Determining Turing Clearance with Convert-A-Ball 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Adapter CAB-C5G

Question:

I have a bandw turnover ball hitch, with this adapter. I recently bought a 2019 Heartland Milestone 389tb and I drive a 2015 Chevy 2500hd that has a 6 1/2 ft bed. Would this adapter work or will I have to buy one that is offset? The dealership wasnt much help, so I look forward to your advice.

Since you're already using the Convert-A-Ball Cushioned 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Adapter # CAB-C5G along with your B&W gooseneck hitch what I suggest is using the B&W Offset Ball # BWGNXA4085. This will give you 4-inches of additional turning clearance but cost you a lot less than a new adapter. If you find you still need more clearance you can always change adapters.

You can check by measuring. Note the distance from the center of the ball to the cab. From this subtract half of the trailer's width at the nose. As long as you have at least 4-inches difference you'll be fine making turns. But since extra clearance is always a good thing using the B&W offset ball is still a good idea and I recommend you use it even if you switch to the offset adapter # CAB-C5GX1216.
