Recommended 5th Wheel Hitch for 2002 Chevy 3500 with Gooseneck Hitch Installed

Question:

Where do I locate the hitch in the bed of my truck? I have a 2002 chevy 3500 with a gooseneck ball. Where do I locate the center of the 5th wheel plate? Directly over the gooseneck ball?

When you already have a gooseneck hitch in your 2002 Chevy 3500, you unfortunately won't be able to add base rails as they will interfere with the gooseneck hitch mounts. There are adapters for some gooseneck systems that allow you to use more standard hitch options. For instance we have the Companion 5th wheel hitch # BWRVK3500 if you have a B&W gooseneck hitch or the Curt X5 # 16310 for that same system.

If you have the Curt Double Lock, there is the X5 adapter # C16210 or # C16220 for the EZr Double Lock gooseneck hitch.

With any other style of gooseneck hitch, you are better off using the Demco Recon # DM8550045 or the Draw-Tite Hi-Rise Gooseneck-to-5th-Wheel Trailer Hitch Adapter # 9480.

My recommendation if you don't have the B&W gooseneck is the Demco Recon # DM8550045 because it will fit directly over your gooseneck hitch ball. It is a great hitch with a light weight so it is ideal for that application without any other adapter needed. If you have the B&W gooseneck then without a doubt I recommend the Companion hitch # BWRVK3500 because it is one of the best 5th wheel hitches on the market and designed specifically for that gooseneck hitch.

I've attached video links for each of the options to assist.
