Troubleshooting Trailer Brake Controller Installation on a 2000 Chevy Silverado
Question:
2000 Chevy Silverado Brakes for trailer Two issues. 1. The truck is equipped with towing package but the Red and Blue wires in the Master Circuit box arent connected. Where does the Blue wire get connected to? 2. When I step on the Brake with the electric controller not connected the trailer brakes hit hard almost lock up. The brakes do not lock when off the brake and the vehicle can be moved. Any suggestions on what may be happening here?

Attached is a helpful article that highlights how and where to connect the red and blue wires you mentioned on your 2000 Chevy Silverado for installing a brake controller like the Prodigy P3 # 90195. I have clipped the last part for these wiring instructions that I believe you are referring to. You will need duplex wiring # 10-2-1, a 20 amp or 30 amp fuse, and a 40 amp fuse. All of this can be found in the Universal Wiring Kit # ETBC7.
As for your second issue I'm honestly a little confused as to what is happening. It sounds like you are saying that you don't have a brake controller connected but when you step on the brake pedal in your Chevy the brakes on your trailer lock up. This shouldn't be possible without a brake controller. If your brakes are applying when you press your brake pedal but you don't have a brake controller then you will need to take your Chevy in to a shop and have them help you figure out what is going on with the wiring on your pickup.
