Question:
Reese friction sway bar. My sway bar is new, Ive used it once. The bolt at the bottom is loose when off the trailer and I dont know how tight it should be! I can turn it with my fingers! should it be loose or should I snug it down?? Its on an 1800 lb travel trailer.

The tension adjustment bolt on the Reese Friction Sway Control Kit # 83660 does not have a specific tension it should be. As you can see by the accompanying cut out of the linked directions, you will need to load your trailer and test to see how much adjustment there needs to be. You can try adjusting it in 1/4 turn increments until you find the right tension that gives you the desired amount of sway control.
