Troubleshooting No 12V Power at 7-Way on 2003 Dodge Truck  

Question:

Hi, my 2003 Dodge has quit charging our camper battery and other 12v items, lights, slides etc, the fuse in the fuse box looks ok but there is no power to the centre pin on the trailer outlet, what am I missing?? thanks

When you stop getting any power to the 12V pin on a truck's 7-Way connector the first place to check is indeed the corresponding fuse under the hood. If you verified this fuse's location (which should be found in the owner's manual) and are sure it is in good condition, then there is likely an issue with the wiring for this circuit on the truck.

Digging around trying to find the specific problem is going to be pretty tricky so I recommend just bypassing it completely by manually running a new 12V power wire from the 7-Way directly to the battery. Simply run a length of 10 gauge wire like # 10-1-1 (sold by the foot) from the 12V pin at the back of the connector to the battery through a 40 amp breaker like # 9510.
