7-Way Upgrade Kit to Install Curt Echo Brake Controller and Provide 12V Power for Trailer Battery

Question:

I have a flat-4 connector and want to purchase a wireless brake controller. I assume I need to purchase this adapter as well. This has 3 loose wires: Yellow - Aux or back-up lights Blue - Electric Brakes Black - Positive power Would the black wire which connects to positive power provide power to the trailers electric brakes and the trailer battery recharge? Also, not sure where the blue electric brakes wire would connect to?

If you have a 4-pole wiring setup now and you want to install a wireless trailer brake controller you will use an adapter like Curt # C57672 or Hopkins # 37185. Both install by plugging in to your 4-pole and by making additional wiring connections using the pigtail leads.

If you want to use a wireless smartphone-controlled brake controller like the Curt Echo # C51180 you will not need to run a blue brake output wire. All you'll need to do is provide a 12V power connection to the adapter. In this case we offer a complete kit # ETBC7L that has everything you need, including the 4-to-7 way adapter # 37185.

To install and use the Echo all you need to do is plug the 4-pole into the adapter and run one single wire from the adapter's black pigtail to the battery, where you'll connect it to the battery via the included circuit breaker. Then pair your phone to the Echo and plug in the trailer 7-way to the Echo and you're done. Please refer to the linked review and install videos to see the kit and how it installs. The other pigtail leads on the adapter do not have to be connected to use the Echo or get 12V power to the trailer.

The Echo will pass the 12V auxiliary power on to your trailer so that the trailer battery will receive a maintenance charge as well as the trailer brakes receiving the braking power they need.

Regarding "Item #: ETBC7L the 7-Way RV Upgrade Kit for Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 12 Gauge Wires" is it possible to get these items with 10 gauge wire rather 12 gauge? Thank you!

You can certainly add 10 gauge wire separately with part # 10-1-1 (sold by the foot) but unfortunately we're not able to replace the 12 gauge wiring included with the # ETBC7L kit with it.
