Rust Resistant Wheels Tires and Suspension For Off-Roading With Trailer

Question:

Hi there, we are looking to see if there are any galvanized wheels and galvanized suspension options for off-road trailer wheels? We are looking for them to be able to handle a 400 lbs trailer at least. They must be galvanized or rust-proof since this trailer is on the coast. Thanks! Please respond asap.

We do offer many options of galvanized and aluminum wheels that do not rust or corrode. The Timbren Axle-less suspension system part # ASR400S02-G does not come in a galvanized option but the Timbren systems are powder coated with black powder coat to resist wear and corrosion. This kit is also made for smaller tires, so it doesn't accommodate a larger tire like you need for off-roading.

I recommend Timbren Axle-less 1,200 lb suspension for Off-Road Tires part # A12WS545. This Timbren Axle-less system is designed with shock absorbing springs for bumpy off-road situations. If you decide to not go with an axle-less system we do offer corrosion resistant suspension components for leaf springs. If you decide to not go with axle-less suspension let me know and I can help you find those parts.

I recommend Loadstar Kenda ST175/80D13 Bias Trailer Tire with 13" Aluminum Wheel part # AM31245 with a 5 on 4-1/2 bolt pattern. These wheels fit the Timbren Axle-less suspension. Galvanized wheels are a good option to prevent rust and corrosion on the wheel but aluminum is the best option. Aluminum stands up a little bit longer to corrosion than a galvanized wheel does. Since you like to take the trailer off-road The Loadstar tire on the Aluminum wheel is a bias ply tire. Bias ply tires have a stiffer sidewall so they are better on rough terrain compared to a radial tire that is designed to flex for less heat build up for highway use.

If your trailer is significantly less than 400 lbs I recommend the 400 lb Timbren Axle-less system for Off Road tires part # A4WS440. This system comes with a 4 on 4 bolt pattern hub so you would need the 12 inch Aluminum wheel Kenda part # AM30677 to fit that hub. If your trailer is over 400 lbs then 1200 lb system is your best option.
