Recommended Weight Distribution System and Air Springs for 2018 Ford F-150 Towing Cargo Trailer

2018 F150 5.0 V8 w 3:56 gears. Rated for 9100lbs towing capacity 14400 GCWR. TRAILER: weight from factory 6800lbs. Capable of 9300lbs w cargo. 31 ft shell plus nose and bumper 36 ft 8 in. X 11 ft 6 in tall. Plan to buy an equalizer hitch. I was a bldg contractor for 25 years always had crew cab dually diesels and dump trucks for towing. So I could tow anything. And had trailers from 20 ft cargo weighing at up to 12000lbs and flatbeds up to 18000lbs. And I know how to handle a trailer. HOWEVER.....now that I got rid of my duallys and diesels and went F150 back to gas. And I love my gas engine w Rousch exhaust and cold air charger. She is a beast. But can she safely tow this trailer long distance? What suspension mods will make it better if any? Change shocks? Change tires? Go 20 in rim vs my 18 in rim? Now that I am a salesman for an hvac co and have this light truck I feel like a lightweight! Lol Help!!

For your 2018 Ford F-150, the 9,100 lb towing capacity will limit the cargo in your trailer. Using the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System w/ 4-Point Sway Control # EQ37140ET is the best option for your truck and trailer combination to help level your load and also give you sway control.

If you are experiencing squat when towing or when you have equipment in the bed of your truck, I recommend the Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 Air Helper Springs # AL57385. These air springs allow you to level your truck and it will also help with the ride quality. The kit comes with manual valve stems, but you can alternatively upgrade to a compressor kit like # AL25980 to give you the ability to adjust the air pressure at any time for your desired ride.

The combination of the weight distribution system and the air springs will make towing more enjoyable and much safer even through they don't increase your towing capacity.
