Question:
What size bolts are used to install the racket double barrel ra27-c. Are they 1/2” x 2” for the unit and 3/8” for the power plate. And how close should the main unit be to the back gate? Is there a specific gap onrail between the unit and back gate?

Expert Reply:
The larger bolt for the Rack'em Double Barrel Utility Trailer Tailgate Lift Assist # RA-27C is a 7/16" (almost M12) with 14 TPI (threads per inch) while the smaller bolt that holds the pate for the gate is 5/16" with 24 TPI.
According to the instructions you want to get the main unit as close to the gate as possible without interfering with the gate latch (see attached photo from the instructions).
