Do the Thule OutWay Trunk Mount Bike Racks Fit a 2012 Volvo XC-60

Question:

Ive heard a lot of good things about this bicycle rack but Im not sure if it would fit my 2012 Volvo XC-60. Both the Thules and etrailers fit guides include the 9002 raceway as fitting the car. However, my concern is that the car has a sort of spoiler at the top of the back door, and I suspect that the ratcheting cables would put a lot of downward pressure on the spoiler, thus damaging it. Is there a special way of fitting this so that the cables are not placed on the spoiler?

I spoke with my contact at Thule about the fit of the OutWay bike racks, # TH45JV or the # TH56BV on a 2012 Volvo XC-60. She stated that if that lip or plastic spoiler piece is factory standard equipment on all models (which I believe it is because I have not seen one without it) then it would have been factored into the fit guide.

If it is aftermarket, it could potentially still work if the straps can bypass the spoiler meaning if there is a gap between the spoiler and body of the vehicle that the straps can pass through and thus not put stress on the spoiler.

If you will be carrying women's, children's, or alternative frame bikes, I recommend using the Bike Adapter Bar, # TH982XT, in order to carry the bikes more level. I have included a link to a video that shows how the adapter works.
