Troubleshooting Auxiliary Lights Not Working on Aluminum Car Hauler Connected to 2019 Ford Lariat

Just bought an aluminum car hauler and some lights don’t work when I plug it into my 2019 Ford Lariat. The 12volt system that supplies power to these auxiliary lights isn’t working. Can you help?

When you plug your aluminum car carrier into your 2019 Ford Lariat and some of the lights don't work that is a classic symptom of a bad ground connection. Each light should have a ground connection to your trailer that bare metal to metal and aluminum trailers are notorious for having ground issues. You may need to physically run wire like # 16-1-1 to each light so you have a consistent and common ground location on your trailer that is functional.

I recommend using the heat shrink butt connectors # DW05744-10 for these connections so you have weather safe connections.
