Will SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs Soften the Ride In a 2016 Ram 2500

Question:

My 2016 Ram 2500HD has a very stiff ride in the rear end with no payload. This truck has a 8foot flat bed installed. Runs mostly empty payload. Will the SSR-312-54 help to soften the ride unloaded.

In order to help you smooth out the ride on your 2016 Ram 2500 I would need some more info from you. For starters, are you using the factory jounce springs? Regardless of which jounce springs you are using, are they engaged/compressed while unloaded? If the jounce springs are engaged/compressed while unloaded then there is a possibility that the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs part # SSR-312-54 would improve ride quality although if ride quality is your utmost concern then I would use the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs part # SSR-312-47 as they are a bit softer.

If the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs were replacing a much denser jounce spring such as the Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System part # TDR2500D then that would also improve ride quality but 3/4 ton pickup trucks in general are more or less designed for towing so the suspension is pretty stiff which usually translates to an undesirable ride.

I suspect that the flatbed you have installed on your truck has engaged/compressed the jounce springs which is why you are having such a rough ride therefore the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs part # SSR-312-47 could potentially provide benefits if they were softer than the jounce springs you have now. Unfortunately, there aren't really a lot of options for you out there.
