Fit of Thule T2 Pro XTR Platform Rack on 2014 Buick Encore
Question:
Hello, I have a 2014 Buick Encore and plan to purchase the curt hitch. I am interested in the Thule T2 Pro XT 2 but want to make sure that will be compatible with my encore. Also, Do you know if I would be able to open the lift gate with the platform tilted forward? Thank you. By the way, the video reviewing the hitches was very helpful. Thank you.

Curt Class I hitch # C11527 is a confirmed fit for your 2014 Buick Encore. You can see the installation in the linked video and the written instructions are linked as well. This hitch will be compatible with the 1-1/4-inch version of the Thule T2 Pro XTR, which is part # TH23JV. This rack is also made in versions for 2-inch hitches and those other versions are not compatible with your hitch. This hitch requires a stabilizer strap # 18050 with bike racks or cargo carriers, but not when used for towing.
With the unloaded rack tilted down will absolutely be able to open the rear hatch. You will probably also be able to open the hatch with bikes on the rack but this is a function of the specific bikes. You can see this handy tilting feature in the linked video.
