Lock and Anti-Rattle for Kuat Transfer 2 and Tacoma Factory Hitch

Question:

Hope all is well! As you guys are aware this hitch pin is too sort for 2018/ 2019 Tacoma hitch receiver, its too short to use the transfer 2 lock. I saw a post that recommended using part # e98891 but this is really not practical for me. I know one of you checked with Kuat not sure how long ago and they do not produce a longer bolt. Can someone please follow up with them again to see if they can make one an inch longer than standard? This issue will come up with others so hopefully they can produce a few or at least 2 for Joel and I..lol. If they cant do you guy have any recommendations on a another hitch pin and lock that would work? It would need to be an inch longer than current threaded hitch pin. Im also wondering if another lock system besides # Cab-10 would work on the end of this current bolt. I will say that overall you guys do a great job with customer service, your web site is laid out well and the videos are very helpful. Nice work! Thanks!!

My best suggestion for securing your Kuat Transfer hitch bike rack # KU74FR in your Tacoma's wide hitch is combination of two parts, one for anti-rattle and one for a lock. Roadmaster anti-rattle # RM-061 can clamp the rack's shank into position in the hitch to remove motion and then a separate cable lock like # e98891 or # 8122D can be used to both secure the bikes to the rack and the rack to the safety chain loops on your hitch.

Take care not to over-tighten the anti-rattle on the rack's shank; moderate tension on the bolts should stabilize it nicely.

Kuat still does not offer a longer hitch pin to accommodate the hitch on your Tacoma and they are not equipped to do a one-off part.
