Can Brake Controller Not In Use be Simply Unplugged from Vehicle
Question:
I think I have a bad trailer brake controller on my 2006 dodge ram 1500. The brake lights will go on and off like someone is pressing the peddle even if nobody is in it and its sitting in the drive way. It usually happens after I kick the controller by mistake getting out of the truck. I can see a light blue plug under the dash above the e brake peddle. Will unplugging that safely disable the brake controller?

Yes, you can simply unplug the brake controller you have and it won't negatively affect anything else on your truck. Sounds like your problem is the controller malfunctioning or you have a short between the wiring of the controller on the red and black wires.
