Yes, the Curt Class III hitch # C13382 installation can be handled by a DIY novice installer. This hitch is a fairly easy install and for a novice will take about an hour.

All mounting hardware comes with the hitch and the help article I linked will enable a trouble-free install. You can check out all of these helpful resources while the hitch is on its way to you. If you also need a wiring harness for the Crosstrek please order part # 118467 which offers simple plug-in installation as you'll see in the second linked video. For a ball mount kit to complete a towing setup you can use kit # 989900.
