How to Discourage Theft of B&W Companion 5th Wheel Hitch

Question:

I am looking at this for my new fifth wheel on my Ram. I park in remote area for hikes with my rig after ping my trailer. How can make this secure so someone does not unbolt it? Looks like you can walk off with the head and/or base if you had a bit of time and motivation.

Locks are primarily deterrents to theft. No lock on any given product can absolutely prevent theft.

And just as you say, with enough time and the correct tools a nasty person could steal just about anything. If your pickup were parked unguarded for a long time a thief might instead steal your truck wheels since they at least can be rolled!

The handles on the base of the B&W Companion # BWRVK3670 can be locked with Master Lock # ML140DLH. You could remove the (70-lb) head and lock it inside the truck if you want, or you could conspicuously run one or more cable locks like # e98891 through the various openings and aps on the hitch to discourage anyone from bothering with it.
