Where to Connect the Power Wire for the Curt 4-Way to 7-Way # C57674 on a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe
Question:
I have recently installed a trailer hitch on my Santa Fe and I want to install this adapter and connect the lead to charge the battery on the trailer. Is hte 12V outlet in the trunk compartment the best place to connect the blue lead? Thanks

There are a couple of things to be aware of for this installation. First, the blue wire is for electric brakes on the trailer and would connect to a brake controller in the cab of the vehicle. The correct wire is the black wire for the 12 volt circuit. Next, you will need to connect this wire directly to the vehicle battery via a 40 amp circuit breaker, # PK54540.
The harness has only been tested for function when connected to the battery, no other power source should be used as you could overload that circuit and damage the vehicle, the wiring harness, or items on the trailer.
We actually recommend the kit, # ETBC7, to add a 7-Way to a vehicle that requires a hardwire installation. It comes with the wire you will need to connect to the battery, the circuit breakers required, and other accessories for a complete installation. I have included links to an FAQ and video showing a typical installation.
