Troubleshooting Factory In-Bed 7-Way Gooseneck and 5th Wheel Trailer Connection on 2017 Ram 3500

Question:

I have a 2017 ram 3500 with a factory prepped for a fifth wheel which includes the in bed plug. The rv was delivered to the dealer the other day so we went and checked it out. Scheduled to pick up this weekend. They didn’t have any power near by to open the slides so we backed the truck up to it and tried connecting the power to the in bed plug but it didn’t work. When we tried the bumper plug it worked fine. Are there separate fuses for the bed plug that aren’t labeled on the fuse diagram or am I missing something.

The in bed wiring harness on your OEM 2017 Ram 3500 connects to the same circuit as your rear bumper 7-way. I recommend removing the T-connector from behind your bumper and inspecting the pins for anything bent. The use some dielectric grease like # 11755 to keep moisture and debris out and reconnect it. Do the same behind the plug in the bed and then test for function. If you don't have the 12V power at that point, then you will want to trace the wire to find the short or replace the harness with # A10-7007.
